My name is Walter, and I grew up in southern California in the city of Los Angeles. I attended Woodrow Wilson High School in East Los Angeles. Upon graduation, I accepted an admission to the University of California, Santa Cruz, where I studied theater arts, anthropology, and education.
I currently teach ballroom dancing for a living. Competitive and social dancing have become my greatest passions. I am privileged to build people’s confidence and develop their dance dreams.
My most notable accomplishments were being a recipient of the “Winner’s Circle Award” and a two-time recipient of the “Dream Team Award” for the Northwest as a top teacher, specialist, and instructor.
When I’m not dancing, I enjoy reading about self-improvement, leadership, and metaphysics. I occasionally play video games, like Mario Kart. But…dancing is truly my passion.
Learning how to dance is the best thing you can do for your MIND, BODY, & SOUL!
I am dancing as pro for the Putnam Clubhouse because I believe it to be a great cause....
Ballroom Dance Instructor
I grew up in the South Bay until I was in high school. I then moved to Chicago where I spent 24 years before returning to my California roots.
I attended the University of Iowa where I received a bachelor of science in nursing, and Northwestern University where I received a master’s degree in management.
I am the President of Hospital Operations at John Muir Health. I have the wonderful privilege of working with outstanding teams of leaders, physicians, nurses, clinical and support staff, and volunteers, who promote healing and health in our community. I am most passionate about creating the highest quality healthcare for our community.
My most notable accomplishment was being honored by the San Francisco Business Times as one of the Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business of 2017. Honorees are top executives, C-suite leaders, and entrepreneurs that exemplify creativity, passion, vision, and perseverance. Honorees span a variety of industries including technology, real estate, finance, hospitality, non-profits, law, medicine, education, and more.
I am very involved in my local community! My areas of focus are working on children’s health issues and working to impact gender equity and diversity.
Mental health issues touch all of our families, friends, and communities. It is a less visible hurt and illness than a physical injury, but just as devastating to the individual and family unit. It is so important we build durable systems of care and support. It’s one of the reasons I’m proud that John Muir Health provides behavioral health services and has an ongoing partnership with Putnam Clubhouse.
I have an amazing and handsome husband, Wayne; a perfect 6’6” son, Colin, who is a physical therapist; and a beautiful architect/designer daughter-in-law, Jessica. They are the proud parents of our granddaughter, Hannah, an adorable and sweet two-year-old! I enjoy anything to do with music, the outdoors with Hannah, and I am a real foodie!
I do have dance experience. I took lessons as a young girl, and I always enjoyed the experience. I am dancing for “So, Do You Think You Can Dance? Reach for The Stars!” because I attended the event last year and was so impressed and inspired by the exuberance and energy of all the dancers that I decided to dust off my dancing shoes. More importantly, I want to take part in this special event to bring mental health into the limelight.
Let’s all have fun and VOTE FOR JANE!
