Putnam Clubhouse Board Member

Stephen Wilcox is the Chancellor of the Diocese of Oakland. He is responsible for all “outward facing” ministries within the Diocese including Faith Formation and Evangelization, CYO, Office of Mission Advancement, Family Aid to Catholic Education (FACE) and the Diocesan Review Board. He also serves as the Victims Assistance Coordinator (VAC) for the Diocese. Mr. Wilcox is the Bishop representative to Catholic Charities of the East Bay, and one of three Bishop’s Board appointees to a Catholic network of elementary schools known as the Lumen Christi Academies.

Mr. Wilcox is President of the Wilcox Family Foundation. The Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to collaborating with other non-profits to find and promote sustainable solutions to the issues affecting poor, underserved and underrepresented communities. The solutions currently funded are in the areas of health, education and employment. The Foundation’s goal is to improve the lives of individuals and families living in marginalized communities.

Mr. Wilcox is a retired senior executive of Accenture, LLP. Prior to “un-retiring” and joining the Diocese he spent 28 years with Accenture, the technology and outsourcing company. Mr. Wilcox also serves on several non-profit boards and committees primarily in the Bay Area and western US.

Steve and his wife, Margaret (Peg), are residents of Danville, California. Peg’s activities include the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Mr. Wilcox is dancing because he believes in the Clubhouse model; what they do, how they do it and why they do it.

He is dancing because he is inspired by the leadership of the Putnam Clubhouse most notably Tamara Hunter; who has been a great advocate, resource and true coalition builder in the community.

Most importantly, he is dancing because he believes people need the opportunity to build a life beyond mental illness. The Putnam Clubhouse provides their members that opportunity. He sees our collective duty is to provide Putnam with the resources to make those opportunities happen.
