Ryann Cacciotti is very excited to be participating in So, Do You Think You Can Dance? Reach for the Stars ! with her brother Steve Cramer. Ryann grew up in the beach community of Encinitas in Southern California and still lives there with her husband, Michael, and their two children, Joseph (5) and Amelia ( 3).
Ryann is a physical therapist in San Diego, working in an outpatient private practice that specializes in orthopedic and aquatic therapy. In addition to her clinical practice, she is an adjunct faculty member at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, teaching the upcoming generation of physical therapists.
Recently, Ryann has returned to running for her exercise, participating in different races in the Southern California area, including the Disney Half Marathon and the San Diego Hot Chocolate 15K. With two young children and working full time, there is not much time for other personal hobbies, however Ryann has tried to expose her children to sports of all kinds and instill in them the importance of living an active and healthy lifestyle. Weekends often involve a walk or hike around local trails or a pick up soccer or baseball game in the yard with whole family. And, as a lifelong dancer, she is thrilled to see the joy of dancing seems to have carried on in her children as most days come to a close with a family dance party in the living room.
Having grown up dancing and performing in both jazz and ballet companies, Ryann is acting as the dance professional in this twosome. Recently jumping back into the dance world by choreographing a first dance for a wedding earlier this year, this dancer, who cannot help but create dance steps when she hears music, is looking forward to actually performing those dance steps in front of a live audience. And, being a physical therapist who is always concerned with restoring function and improving the quality of life for her patients, it means even more that her dancing will help a wonderful organization like Putnam Clubhouse and further its mission of restoring lives.
Steve Cramer is thrilled to be dancing with his sister Ryann at this year’s benefit, having only recently become acquainted with the Putnam Clubhouse program and mission. Mental health is an issue that is near and dear to his heart, having supported members of his family through their own mental health challenges.
Steve is a Managing Director at Deloitte Consulting. He lives in San Ramon with his beautiful family—Amy, his wife of 26 years; Parker, 20, a junior and collegiate swimmer at Providence College; Rhys, 18, a freshman and aspiring marine biologist at Eckerd College; and Griffin, 15, a sophomore at California High School and (almost!) Eagle Scout.
While Steve’s work centers around technology, he is also passionate about the outdoors, and—based on his own experience as a Scout—he volunteers as an Assistant Scoutmaster for his son’s troop, in charge of their High Adventure Program and leading extended treks into the backcountry and to the BSA High Adventure Camps such as Philmont. He and Griffin will be heading up a crew for a winter camping trek to Northern Tier adventure base in Ely, MN, this December, where they’ll camp for five days, including two nights on the ice of a frozen lake!
Drama is in Steve’s blood, as you’ll hopefully see in the program tonight. He and Ryann grew up watching movie musicals together and idolizing the likes of Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. Steve attended NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with a focus on Theater (which, by the way, is absolutely the best training for consulting!), where among other things he trained in several swing dance techniques including the Shim Sham, the Big Apple, and the Lindy Hop. He’s extremely excited to be exercising those muscles once again.
Putnam Clubhouse is affiliated with Clubhouse International and follows the Clubhouse Model. Clubhouse program components involve doing the tasks needed to run the Clubhouse (cooking, clerical, fundraising, etc.), structured employment and educational opportunities, social and recreational activities, community support, outreach to other members, and participation in Clubhouse governance. Putnam Clubhouse is the first Clubhouse International-accredited program to open in Northern California.
